Study Permit Applications

The study permit is a document issued by IRCC that allows foreign nationals to study at designated learning institutions (DLI) in Canada. Most foreign nationals need a study permit to study in Canada. Programs that need a study permit are the following (assuming the duration is more than six months):

  • A bachelor’s, master’s, or PhD program at a University
  • A post-secondary certificate or diploma at a private or community college
  • Studying at an elementary or secondary school (at a private, boarding, or public school)

You must meet some basic requirements to get a visitor visa. You must:

  • have a valid travel document, like a passport
  • be in good health
  • have no criminal or immigration-related convictions
  • convince an immigration officer that you have ties—such as a job, home, financial assets or family—that will take you back to your home country
  • convince an immigration officer that you will leave Canada at the end of your visit
  • have enough money for your stay


Super Visa - parents or grandparents can visit Canada for up to 2 years at a time

Canadian citizenship is typically obtained either by birth in Canada or by birth abroad to at least one parent with Canadian citizenship or by adoption by at least one Canadian citizen. It can also be granted to a permanent resident who has lived in Canada for a given period of time through naturalization.


To be eligible to become a Canadian citizen through naturalization, you must:

  • be a permanent resident.
  • have lived in canada for three out of last five years.
  • have filed your taxes, if you need to
  • pass citizenship test
  • prove your language skills.
